How many games is the season and when does it start/end?
Our 22+ league will have a 15 game season for 2023 along with a double elimination playoff format. The 38+ league will have a 12 game season along with a double elimination playoff format.
When are games played?
Both leagues play games on Sundays. Each league also has a number of games starting at 6:30 PM during the week except the 38+, they will only play 2 games during the week during the 2023 season. In the CMBL 22+ teams average one weeknight game every two weeks. Games are not played on Holiday Weekends unless absolutely necessary due to rain outs.
What is the CMBL? Charleston Men's Baseball league 22+ League. The league should not be confused with another league trying to start in the area. Our fields, umpires and teams are set and we are financially sound and not struggling like other leagues. We pride ourselves in running a very organized league that allows ALL players to have input and be kept updated on our financials and league plans.
Does it cost money to play?
Yes. We are a self-supported league. Fees go towards Umpires, Fields, Baseballs, Insurance, Awards, and our Websites. Teams take care of their own uniforms and equipment. Team costs vary by League and even by team in the same league due to equipment, uniform needs and team size. In general fees can run anywhere from $210.00/season to $250.00/season depending on the league and specific team
I haven't played in a while. How competitive is the league?
We are competitive but each league consists of a wide range of age and skill levels. Experience levels range from ex-professionals to no previous organized baseball experience in each of our leagues. Although every team will be trying to win, "Having Fun is Goal Number One".
What do I need to play?
All you need is a glove, a pair of spikes/cleats, a good attitude, and the desire to play baseball. Catcher's gear and helmets are provided by the teams.
How fast is the pitching?
In each league you will see pitching ranging from 50 MPH to the high 80's MPH range. What positions are most in demand?
All positions are in demand but there seems to be a particular need for those who can pitch.
How do I get on a team?
Each year an open workout is held giving managers a chance to place players where they are most needed. Each League
has their own open tryout but they tend to be about a month before the season starts. If you happen to miss an open
tryout don't worry there are always teams in every league in need of players and we will get you on one that needs
you. Just visit one of our websites and fill out an “Interested Player Registration” form and you will be placed on a team
quickly.
